Hougang Mall became the practical commercial anchor of Hougang Central, linking MRT and bus travel with groceries, food, services and family shopping in one everyday north-east routine.

Compass Point opened with Sengkang’s transport-led new town and later returned as Compass One, anchoring MRT, LRT, bus, library, groceries, food and family shopping in one north-east routine.

White Sands grew beside Pasir Ris MRT as the practical shopping centre of Singapore’s eastern beach town, combining groceries, food, services and family retail with the commute home.

Lot One became Choa Chu Kang’s transport-linked shopping centre, combining MRT, LRT and bus movement with groceries, food, cinema, library and everyday services.

NEX opened at Serangoon in 2010, using the North East and Circle Line interchange, bus traffic and a huge residential catchment to create one of Singapore’s busiest suburban shopping crossroads.

Junction 8 helped turn rapidly developing Bishan into a mature commercial centre built around MRT, family retail, food, cinema and everyday services.

VivoCity opened in 2006 at HarbourFront, turning a former World Trade Centre and ferry-gateway district into a giant waterfront shopping, dining and leisure destination connected to Sentosa.

Suntec City opened in the 1990s as a vast integrated office, convention and retail project. Its mall turned conference crowds, office workers and the Fountain of Wealth into one of Marina Centre’s defining shopping ecosystems.

Marina Square opened in the 1980s on reclaimed Marina Centre land and helped create a new downtown shopping district through giant retail floors, hotels, food, cinema and family leisure.

Raffles City opened in 1986 on the former Raffles Institution site, combining shopping, hotels, offices, convention space and later direct MRT access into one of Singapore’s defining mixed-use downtown developments.

West Mall opened beside Bukit Batok MRT in 1998 and became a classic Singapore town-centre mall: groceries, food, cinema, library and practical services built directly into residents’ daily transport routine.

Causeway Point opened beside Woodlands MRT in 1998 and became the retail anchor of Woodlands Regional Centre, giving northern families a large mall integrated with transport, food, cinema and everyday services.

IMM began in 1991 as International Merchandise Mart, a permanent trade-showroom concept. It survived by reinventing itself as a consumer mall, home-retail centre and eventually Singapore’s best-known outlet-shopping destination.

Tampines became Singapore’s first Regional Centre in 1991. Sogo arrived in 1993, Century Square in 1995 and Tampines Mall in 1996, creating a mall cluster that made large-scale suburban shopping a city-centre alternative.

Northpoint opened in Yishun in December 1992 as Singapore’s pioneer suburban retail mall. Twenty-five years later it grew into Northpoint City, integrating 400+ shops with transport, housing, library, community club and public space.
