Kranji Countryside: The Farms You Can Visit and How to Get There

The Kranji countryside in Singapore’s north-west is where you can still see working farms. Around Neo Tiew, the farms most open to visitors are Hay Dairies (a goat farm, free entry), Bollywood Farms (an organic farm with a bistro) and Gardenasia (farm stays and workshops). A short drive south, the Sungei Tengah cluster adds Qian Hu Fish Farm, Nippon Koi Farm and Kok Fah Technology Farm. For public transport, bus 975 runs daily from Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang MRT, and bus 925M runs from Kranji, Marsiling and Woodlands on Sundays and public holidays. Opening days vary farm by farm, so check before you go.

It is a lovely, muddy-boots sort of day: goats, greens and a long lunch. The trick is to plan around opening days, because few farms open every day of the week.

Quick facts

  • Where: Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang and Kranji, with Sungei Tengah nearby.
  • Entry: many farms are free to walk around; activities such as feeding or fishing cost extra.
  • Best days: weekends, when most farms keep their longest hours.
  • Bus 975: daily, from Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang MRT.
  • Bus 925M: Sundays and public holidays, from Kranji, Marsiling and Woodlands MRT.
  • Pair it with: Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, which sits right beside the Neo Tiew farms.

Which farms can you visit?

Hours and fees below are as listed in a family guide updated in August 2026, cross-checked against the farms’ own sites where possible. Farms change hours often, so treat this as a starting point.

The Transport Ministry told Parliament in October 2024 that these countryside routes carry modest numbers, so buses can be spaced out. Check arrival times on a bus app before you leave a farm, and keep a ride-hail app ready for the trip home, as pick-ups can take a while out here.

A sample Sunday

  1. Take bus 925M from Kranji MRT and start at Sungei Buloh around 7.30am, while it is cool.
  2. Walk or ride a short hop to Hay Dairies when it opens at 9am to meet the goats.
  3. Have lunch at Bollywood Farms, which keeps its longest hours on weekends and public holidays.
  4. Finish with a ride-hail to Qian Hu in Sungei Tengah for an hour of longkang fishing with the children, then head home.

What to bring and know

  • Covered shoes, a hat and insect repellent; farm paths can be muddy after rain.
  • Some cash and a card; smaller stalls may prefer one or the other.
  • Respect farm rules on touching animals and wash hands after feeding.
  • These are working farms, not theme parks: call ahead for groups, and expect closures for farm work, weather or festive days.

The WahLiao Verdict

Go on a Sunday or public holiday, when bus 925M runs and most farms keep their longest hours, and choose two or three places rather than six. Start early with Sungei Buloh and the goats, take lunch slowly at a farm bistro, and pay for one ride-hail to link Neo Tiew with Sungei Tengah. Check each farm’s latest hours the night before, and you’ll have a gentle, green day that feels a long way from the city.

Questions people ask

Is it free to visit the Kranji farms?

Many are free to enter, including Hay Dairies, Qian Hu and Nippon Koi as listed. You pay for extras such as animal feed, fishing, food, tours and workshops.

Can I visit the farms by public transport?

Yes, with patience. Bus 975 runs daily and bus 925M runs on Sundays and public holidays. Farms are spread out, so expect some walking along quiet roads.

Which farm is best for young children?

Hay Dairies for the goats and Qian Hu for longkang fishing are the easiest wins. Both are short visits that suit small attention spans.

Do farms close on weekdays?

Some do, or open for shorter hours. Hay Dairies, for example, lists Tuesday as its closed day, and Bollywood Farms lists Wednesday to Sunday opening. Always check the farm’s own page or social media first.
