The national programme once called Screen for Life now runs as Healthier SG Screening. It covers the tests most adults need: cardiovascular risk from 40, cervical cancer from 25, colorectal cancer from 50 and breast cancer mammograms from 50. Eligible Singapore Citizens pay S$5 or less at CHAS GP clinics, and S$0 at their enrolled Healthier SG clinic, including one follow-up consultation if needed. Private packages cost far more: in January 2026, prices ranged from about S$52 for a basic clinic package to over S$11,000 for the most elaborate hospital package. General health screening cannot be paid with MediSave.

Finding a problem early is one of the kindest things you can do for your future self. The good news: the screenings that matter most are among the cheapest.

Quick facts

  • Healthier SG Screening fees for citizens at CHAS GPs: Pioneer Generation S$0; Merdeka Generation and CHAS Blue or Orange S$2; others and CHAS Green S$5.
  • Citizens enrolled with Healthier SG pay S$0 for eligible tests at their enrolled clinic.
  • Mammograms at selected polyclinics: S$0 enrolled, S$25 PG, S$37.50 MG, S$50 other citizens, S$75 PRs.
  • Permanent Residents: ask the CHAS GP for test rates; consultation fees apply.
  • Book and check eligibility at book.health.gov.sg.
  • Public hospital screening packages are not subsidised.

What private packages cost

Every provider names its packages differently. These are lowest-to-highest package prices including GST, as listed in January 2026.

ProviderTypePackage range

Parkway ShentonClinic groupS$125 to S$321

A basic package should include at least a health and lifestyle assessment, a physical examination, fasting blood glucose and a cholesterol test. Dearer packages add blood counts, liver and kidney panels, ECG, scans and specialist reviews. Check the test list, not just the price.

Worked example: a 52-year-old woman

  • Enrolled with Healthier SG: cardiovascular risk, HPV test and FIT at her clinic for S$0; mammogram at a selected polyclinic for S$0. Total: S$0.
  • Not enrolled, no subsidy card: cardiovascular, cervical and colorectal screening at a CHAS GP for S$5; mammogram S$50. Total: S$55.
  • Private package instead: a mid-range package of about S$400 to S$600, which may still not include a mammogram or FIT.

How to book subsidised screening

  1. Check your eligibility and book at book.health.gov.sg.
  2. Choose your enrolled Healthier SG clinic, or a participating CHAS GP.
  3. Bring your NRIC and any CHAS, Merdeka or Pioneer card; call ahead to confirm.
  4. Return for the follow-up consultation, which is included if needed.

The WahLiao Verdict

Start with the national screenings: they cover the conditions that matter most for your age, at S$5 or less, or free if you enrol with Healthier SG. Buy a private package only if you want extra tests and know what each one is for, or your employer pays. Whatever you choose, act on the results with your doctor; a screening only helps if you follow up.
