How do I renew?

Apply on ICA’s e-Service using Singpass. You’ll need a digital photo that meets ICA’s rules and a card to pay. When you apply, choose where to collect: ICA, or one of the designated SingPost outlets, where ICA absorbs the collection fee.

What does it cost?

When the ten-year passport was introduced in October 2021, the ministry kept the online fee at S$70, and some overseas missions still quote S$70 for online applications. At least one mission now lists S$80, so check the fee on ICA’s site when you apply. Replacing a lost or damaged passport costs more, because a penalty fee is added.

How long is it valid?

Ten years for citizens aged 16 and above. Children under 16 get a five-year passport, and up to nine months left on their old one can be carried over.

What’s the six-month rule?

Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months from the day you arrive, and airlines check before they let you board. A passport that runs out in four months can end a holiday at the check-in counter. That’s why ICA lets you renew once yours has about six months left.

How long does it take?

Allow several weeks. For Singaporeans applying online from abroad, missions quote two to four weeks for online applications and four to six weeks for applications made in person. Don’t leave it until the week before a flight.

What if I lose it?

Report the loss to ICA immediately. If it was stolen or lost through a crime, you’ll also need a police report. A replacement costs the application fee plus a penalty fee.
