East Coast Park is Singapore’s longest beach park: 180 hectares over about 13km, divided into Areas A to H and open 24 hours, with free entry. Bike rental shops along the park were charging about $10 an hour for an adult bike as of mid-2026, with tandems and family bikes costing more. NParks runs around 74 barbecue pits along the beachfront, which cost $12 to $20 a day depending on location and must be booked in advance through AXS. For food, East Coast Lagoon Food Village is the classic hawker stop. Note that the East Coast Seafood Centre closed on 30 September 2026 for redevelopment; Long Beach announced a move to Coastal PlayGrove.
Sea breeze, a long flat path and a plate of satay at sunset: East Coast is where Singapore goes to breathe out. Here is how to plan a day that runs smoothly.
Quick facts
- Size: 180 hectares, about 13km of coastline, Areas A to H.
- Hours: open 24 hours; entry free.
- Bike rental: about $10 an hour for an adult bike at rental shops, mid-2026.
- BBQ pits: about 74 pits in Areas C to G, $12 to $20 a day, booked via AXS.
- Parking: many car parks; E1 is the largest, with 555 lots. Fees may apply.
- Seafood Centre: closed on 30 September 2026 for redevelopment.
Renting a bike
Several rental shops operate in the park, including GoCycling (at Carpark C4, and a self-service kiosk at G1) and Coastline Leisure (at Area B1, and at E2 by the Lagoon, which a June 2026 price guide lists as open 24 hours). Rates below are as reported in June 2026; shops can change them, so check at the counter.
| Bike | Typical rate, mid-2026 |
|---|---|
| Adult single | About $10 an hour |
| Children’s bike | About $8 an hour |
| Tandem | About $20 an hour |
| Family or quad bike | About $40 an hour |
| Dockless shared bike (Anywheel) | From $1 per 30 minutes, via the app |
Shops have run free-hour deals for riders who start before 5pm and pay upfront, such as a free second hour on weekdays. GoCycling has asked for a $50 cash deposit, returned with the bike, so bring cash and ID.
Worked example
Two adults on a weekday afternoon, each renting a single bike for two hours at $10 an hour: 2 × 2 × $10 = $40. If the shop’s free-second-hour deal applies, that falls to 2 × $10 = $20, plus the refundable deposit.
Booking a BBQ pit
- Look at the NParks East Coast Park map to choose an area: pits are in Areas C, D, E, F and G.
- Book on the AXS e-Station portal, where you can pick any available pit.
- Pay the daily fee, between $12 and $20 depending on location.
- Need to change? AXS allows a one-time date change if you ask at least 48 hours before the original booking date, subject to availability.
- Bring charcoal, firelighters, tongs, rubbish bags and a cooler; clear up and dispose of hot coals safely.
Where to eat
| Place | What it’s known for | Note |
|---|---|---|
| East Coast Lagoon Food Village | Beachfront hawker centre for satay, barbecue seafood and local favourites | Busy around sunset and on weekends |
| Long Beach at Coastal PlayGrove | Seafood restaurant, relocating from the Seafood Centre | Move announced for early September 2026; check it is open |
| Marine Cove and Parkland Green | Clusters of cafés, fast food and casual restaurants | Handy for families near the playgrounds |
| East Coast Seafood Centre | Former home of Jumbo and Long Beach | Closed from 30 September 2026 for redevelopment; Jumbo’s original outlet has shut |
Getting there
NParks points to Bedok MRT, and the park links to the Bedok, Coastal and Siglap Park Connectors. Most people cross under the East Coast Parkway via the underpasses from the housing estates. Drivers have plenty of car parks, with Carpark C1 offering 294 lots and EV charging, and E1 the largest at 555 lots.
The WahLiao Verdict
Rent bikes on a weekday afternoon before 5pm to catch the free-hour deals, ride towards the Lagoon for sunset, and end at East Coast Lagoon Food Village for dinner. If you are planning a barbecue, book the pit on AXS well ahead for weekends and public holidays, and choose an area close to a car park so the cooler does not become a workout. Craving a seafood feast? Head to Long Beach’s new home at Coastal PlayGrove rather than the old Seafood Centre.
Questions people ask
Is East Coast Park open at night?
Yes. The park is open 24 hours, though individual shops and food outlets keep their own hours.
How much does a BBQ pit cost?
Between $12 and $20 a day, depending on location, booked in advance through AXS.
Is the East Coast Seafood Centre still open?
No. It closed on 30 September 2026 so NParks can redevelop the site. Jumbo’s original outlet has closed, and Long Beach announced a move to Coastal PlayGrove, expected from early September 2026; check its opening hours before you go.
What is the cheapest way to cycle there?
For short rides, a dockless shared bike from about $1 per 30 minutes. For a long ride or a group, a rental shop with a free-hour deal is usually better value.
