Most foreigners living in Singapore can get Singpass, the national digital identity. You must be at least 15 and hold a Foreign Identification Number (FIN) on an eligible pass, including the Employment Pass, S Pass, ONE Pass, EntrePass, Dependant’s Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass, Work Permit and Student’s Pass. Register on the Singpass portal or app with Singpass Face Verification; it takes minutes.
Singpass is the single most useful thing you will set up in your first week. It logs you in to government services, fills in forms automatically through Myinfo, and is accepted by banks, insurers and telcos. Without it, many things need a counter visit.

How to register
- Check your eligibility: you are 15 or older and hold a FIN on an eligible pass.
- Make sure the address on your pass record is correct; update it with the issuing agency if not.
- Go to the Singpass portal and choose to register for a Singpass account.

What you will use it for
Logging in to MOM, ICA, IRAS and other government services; filling in bank, insurance and telco applications with Myinfo; and proving your identity at some counters with the app. Some banks let pass holders open an account online using Singpass and Myinfo.
Staying safe
Singpass is valuable to scammers. Never give your login to anyone, never scan a QR code or approve a login request you did not start yourself, and treat calls or messages asking for Singpass details as scams. Government officers will never ask for them.
