The ticks on an appliance’s energy or water label tell you how efficient it is: more ticks, lower running costs. To encourage efficient choices, the government’s Climate Friendly Households Programme gives HDB households and Singaporean households in private homes up to S$400 in Climate Vouchers. They cover ten types of product, such as 3-tick fridges, 5-tick aircons and 4-tick washing machines, and are valid until 31 December 2027. You claim them with Singpass and spend them at participating shops.

How do I claim and spend them?
- Go to go.gov.sg/cv-claim and log in with Singpass.
- Receive the voucher link by SMS from gov.sg.
- Shop at a participating retailer; vouchers are scanned at the till in physical stores.
- Bring proof of address along with your vouchers.
More than 150 retailers across about 500 outlets take them.
Why does efficiency matter?
Because running costs outlast the price tag. Refrigerators, which run all day, make up about 17 per cent of a typical household’s electricity use. From 1 July 2026, minimum efficiency and labelling rules also cover regulated appliances that people import for their own use.

Claim the vouchers now and use them when an old fridge or aircon dies; they last until the end of 2027. When comparing two appliances, work out a year’s running cost as well as the price. With electricity at record prices, the extra ticks pay back faster.
