Singapore’s national marathon weekend runs from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026. It has a new name this year: the BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by adidas, with Standard Chartered now sponsoring the 10km. The full marathon flags off at 4.30am on Sunday 6 December, the half marathon at 4.30am on Saturday 5 December, and the 10km, 5km and Kids Dash take place on Friday 4 December. Every race finishes at the National Stadium; start points and route maps are still to be announced. As of early October 2026, the 10km, 5km and Kids Dash are open for registration until 31 October, while international marathon and half-marathon slots have sold out.

Road closures: what to expect

As of 7 October 2026, the organisers had not published the 2026 route maps or the list of road closures. Reports describe a wider loop than recent editions, taking in areas from Keppel Bay to East Coast Park, Marina Bay and the Kallang Basin, but treat that as provisional until the official map is out.

  1. Watch the official marathon website and the Land Transport Authority’s traffic advisories in the fortnight before race weekend.
  2. Expect the biggest closures from the small hours of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, when the half and full marathon run, and around the National Stadium and Kallang on all three days.
  3. If you must drive on those mornings, plan routes that avoid the city centre and the east coast, or go after the cut-off times.
  4. Use the MRT where you can; check SMRT and SBS Transit for any early-opening trains for runners.

The WahLiao Verdict

If you want to run, the Friday-evening 10km or 5km is the friendliest entry point and is still open until 31 October, so decide this month. Families should look at the Friday-morning Kids Dash. Everyone else: mark the early hours of 5 and 6 December as a no-drive zone around the city and the coast, and check the official road-closure map once it is released. Cheering from the National Stadium finish is free and joyful.
