Singaporeans do not need a visa for Türkiye. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Singapore ordinary passport holders are exempted from visa for travels up to 90 days, and Türkiye counts those days within a rolling 180-day period. There is no e-Visa to buy and no entry fee. The one rule that catches people is passport validity: Türkiye requires your passport to be valid for at least 60 days beyond your permitted stay. With a 90-day allowance, the ministry’s own arithmetic gives 150 days of validity from the day you arrive. Planning to stay longer than 90 days? That needs a residence permit from the Turkish migration authorities, not a longer holiday.
Hot-air balloons over Cappadocia, a ferry across the Bosphorus, simit on the go: the entry rules are kind to Singaporeans, so you can save your planning for the itinerary.
Quick facts
- Visa: not needed for Singapore ordinary passports, up to 90 days.
- Counting: visa-free days are counted within a 180-day period.
- e-Visa: not required for Singaporeans, so ignore sites selling one.
- Passport: valid at least 60 days beyond your permitted stay, so about 150 days from arrival.
- Longer stays: need a Turkish residence permit or the right visa.
- Name: the country’s official English name is now Türkiye.
The passport rule, worked out
Türkiye’s foreign ministry gives the example itself: a 90-day stay plus the 60-day buffer means a travel document valid for 150 days. Here is how that plays out for a two-week holiday.
| Item | Example |
|---|---|
| Arrive in Istanbul | Monday 15 March 2027 |
| Fly home | Sunday 28 March 2027 |
| Permitted stay | Up to 90 days |
| 90 days + 60-day buffer | 150 days from arrival |
| Passport must be valid until at least | Thursday 12 August 2027 |
If your passport expires in, say, June 2027, renew it before you go. Airlines check validity at check-in, and many travellers simply keep six months spare as a habit for every trip.
How the 90-in-180 count works
The allowance is not “90 days per trip”. Look back 180 days from any day you are in Türkiye and add up the days you spent there; the total must not exceed 90.
| Trip | Days in Türkiye | Running total in the 180-day window |
|---|---|---|
| January trip | 40 | 40 |
| April trip | 50 | 90 (limit reached) |
| Another trip in May | Not allowed until earlier days drop out of the window | Over 90 |
Most Singaporean holidaymakers will never come close. It matters for long backpacking trips, digital nomads and anyone combining Türkiye with repeated visits for family or work.
Before you fly: a short checklist
- Check passport validity against the 150-day rule above.
- Skip the e-Visa sites. Singapore is visa-exempt, and look-alike sites still try to sell “Turkey e-Visas” to everyone.
- Keep your return or onward booking and hotel details on your phone for immigration questions.
- Buy travel insurance that covers medical treatment; Türkiye is outside any Singapore public scheme.
- Tell your bank you are travelling and pay card bills in Turkish lira, not SGD, to avoid dynamic currency conversion mark-ups.
- Register with MFA’s eRegister so Singapore’s consular team can reach you in an emergency.
Staying longer than 90 days
Visa-free entry is for visits. If you want to study, work or live in Türkiye for a while, you need the right visa from a Turkish mission or a residence permit from Türkiye’s migration authority. Overstaying is treated seriously: it can bring fines and restrictions on future entry. Check the official rules before your 90 days run out, not after.
The WahLiao Verdict
Türkiye is one of the simplest long-haul trips for a Singapore passport: no visa, no fee, no form. Do the 150-day passport sum the day you book, close any website that tries to sell you an e-Visa, and spend what you saved on a good Bosphorus dinner instead.
Questions people ask
Do Singaporeans need a Turkey e-Visa?
No. Singapore ordinary passport holders are visa-exempt for up to 90 days, so there is nothing to apply for or pay.
How much passport validity do I need?
At least 60 days beyond your permitted stay. With the 90-day allowance, that is 150 days from your arrival date.
Can I do two long trips in one year?
Yes, as long as your total days in any 180-day period stay at 90 or below.
Is Turkey part of Europe’s 90/180 Schengen rule?
No. Türkiye is not in the Schengen Area, so days there are counted separately from Schengen days, under Türkiye’s own rules.
