Singapore passport holders can stay in the UAE visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The bigger fact first, though: since 1 March 2026, MFA has advised Singaporeans to defer all travel to the Middle East, including the UAE, because of the regional security situation, and that advisory was still shown on MFA’s UAE page when we checked on 11 October 2026. If you must travel or transit, eRegister with MFA and confirm flights with your airline. When travel resumes normally, a Dubai stopover is easy: Emirates’ Dubai Connect can provide a free hotel, meals and transfers on qualifying connections of 6 to 26 hours.
This guide keeps the entry rules ready for when you need them, and is plain about the advisory that sits over them today.
Quick facts
- Advisory: MFA advises Singaporeans to defer all travel to the Middle East (issued 1 March 2026; still shown in October 2026).
- Visa: none needed for up to 90 days in any 180 days.
- Single-name passports: MFA warns holders whose passport shows only one name will not be allowed entry.
- Controlled medicines: need prior approval online from the Emirates Drug Establishment.
- Dubai Connect: Emirates hotel and transfers for qualifying 6- to 26-hour connections.
- Hotel levy: Dubai’s Tourism Dirham, AED 7 to 20 per room per night by category.
What the MFA advisory means for you
On 1 March 2026 MFA issued notices for 15 Middle East destinations, the UAE among them, advising Singaporeans to defer all travel because of the escalating security situation. It asks those already in or transiting the region to take precautions, follow local authorities and eRegister. Before you book, or if you already hold tickets:
- Check the UAE page on mfa.gov.sg for the latest advisory date and wording.
- Ask your airline about the status of your flight and its change or refund options.
- Ask your travel insurer in writing whether your policy covers a trip made while an MFA advisory is in force; terms differ between insurers.
- If you go, eRegister and save the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi (+971 2 222 2083) and the 24-hour MFA Duty Office (+65 6379 8800) in your phone.

Dubai stopovers, step by step
Because Singaporeans need no visa, a stopover is simply a matter of time and booking. The most generous option is Emirates’ Dubai Connect. Based on terms reported in July 2026, it covers a connecting stopover of 6 to 26 hours in Dubai, on a single Emirates-issued ticket with Emirates-marketed flights on both sides, and you must take the next available connection rather than stretching the layover on purpose.
| Dubai Connect | What to know |
|---|---|
| Layover | 6 to 26 hours, on the next available connection |
| Ticket | One ticket on Emirates stock (numbers starting 176); codeshares excluded |
| Included | Hotel room, meals by check-in time, airport transfers |
| How to add | In the emirates.com booking flow, or via Manage Booking at least 12 hours before your flight to Dubai |
| On arrival | Clear immigration, then collect vouchers at the Dubai Connect desk |
Not eligible, or flying another airline? You can still leave the airport and book your own hotel. Dubai Metro’s Red Line serves Dubai International Terminals 1 and 3; buy a Nol card for fares, and check current prices with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.
Worked example: a one-night self-booked stopover
Book a four-star hotel for one night and Dubai’s Tourism Dirham adds AED 15 for that room-night, on top of the room rate; at a five-star it is AED 20, and at a budget hotel AED 7. Two nights at a four-star means AED 30 in Tourism Dirham. Check whether your booking site has already included it or whether the hotel collects it at check-out.
Laws visitors should know
- Drugs: zero tolerance for recreational use, possession and trafficking.
- Alcohol: only in private or licensed venues; being drunk in public is an offence. Minimum age 21 (18 in Ras Al Khaimah).
- Behaviour: public displays of affection and immodest dress are not tolerated; ask before photographing people.
- Online posts: sharing sensitive or controversial material can be treated as a crime.
- Smoking and vaping: banned indoors, including malls.
- Drones: need permits and registration.
The WahLiao Verdict
For now, follow MFA and hold off on leisure trips and optional Dubai stopovers; there is plenty of world in other directions. Keep this page for later: when the advisory lifts, the UAE is among the simplest long-haul stops for a Singaporean, with no visa and, on the right Emirates ticket, a free hotel night. If you must travel before then, eRegister, read your insurance wording and keep MFA’s numbers close.
